Helping DT maximise her potential DT is a manager working for a retail business. Prior to starting the coaching programme she was responsible for a region and 175 staff and wanted to:
She wished to explore her options in a non-judgmental and supportive environment and then to prioritise her action plans. Contract We agreed that we would coach DT once per month for a period of 5 months with a certain degree of flexibility re: dates. The sessions usually took just over an hour and were a mixture of face-to-face meetings and telephone conversations. Sessions To enable DT totally explore her thinking, we would take notes, which she wished to use as a benchmark / template for each session i.e. so she could use them for action planning and to measure the progress she was making. The notes were used as the springboard to commence each session. The sessions were held in a quiet office to ensure no interruptions. What worked?
Truly listening to DT, not only to what she was saying within the “session” but sometimes before and after – the small talk on the way to the office, e.g. “I’m not sleeping very well at night” - which we brought up during the session to good effect. Outcome from the sessions
We have been requested to continue with the monthly sessions and I am discussing the possibility of coaching other regional directors due to the impact made thus far. |
